Angela and whimsical.nu

Hi, I’m Angela. :) I’m a 30-something Filipina who loves books, writing, games, the Internet, and travel. I’ve also formerly been of retracingsteps.com recently, and seasonalplume.net before this current domain. (And a few other places, but who’s counting?)

I’ve very recently given up my 9-to-5 to come back to the Philippines and do a bit of traveling locally as well as international. My blog will probably be pretty much about my travels for a while, but that single-psyche life has never been for me ;) so I’m back here where I can blog about not just my travel endeavors but also the various odds and ends I am into while I’m taking my year off.

  • I’d like to know what is your favorite color?

  • Enjoyed reading your journal. Do you still have travels after 2018? You no longer update this?

    • Hello Car! I haven’t been traveling internationally after 2018 as I began working on a local business venture shortly after that. Mostly smaller domestic trips, as well as focusing on a new business! I might do an update soon :)

  • Hello Angela, i really enjoyed you review for the Kowa lens. I was trying to reply to that blog entry but it seems to have been removed. If you don’t mind i have a question regarding that lens. I am looking into buying this lens and from your review it seems to fit my needs for the purpose of landscapes. however, i would also like to use this lens for star photography and was wondering if you had tested this lens in that capacity, and if so, had you notices any comatic abberrations on the edges of the image?

    • Hello Zenel! Sorry for the delay in replying. I haven’t tried astrophotography so I can’t really comment on how well this lens would perform in that capacity. There’s a bit of purple fringing but this hasn’t bothered me when using this lens; however, I do shoot raw (and fix where needed) and I wouldn’t be aware what level of chromatic aberration is acceptable when doing astrophotography (as I would assume very little aberration is preferred).

  • Hello Angela, I just read your blog about the Kowa 8.5mm for the MFT platform. Which body do you shoot with and can you tell me how much the Kowa lens costs?

Many thanks and I appreciated reading

    • Hello Brian! My photos here so far are shot with the OMD E-M5, except for any straggling posts on France/Italy (that would be a GF2). The Kowa 8.5mm lens cost me below 95,000 JPY, purchased while I was in Japan.
